A Toonatics Summer Vacation is a 1998 American direct-to-video animated comedy film produced by Paramount Television Animation, Hyperion Animation and O Entertainment, originally meant to be released to theaters. Based on the 1992–99 animated series Toonatics, the film follows the Toonatics characters during their summer vacation, mainly focused on Freddy, Ruger and Beth going downriver while Dr. Partnership, Darryl, Freya, Bob and Jack were trying to capture them, Maria and Angela going on a trip to New York City, and Princess Meadow in search of her favorite star. The film has since developed a strong cult following for its above average story line and production quality.
Nancy Farwell, William Mathews, River Becker, Willard Carroll, Thomas Wilhite and Steve Oedekerk were the executive producer of the film, which was written by Julie Young, Alexandra Farwell, Derek Drymon and Julian Reilly. Unlike the first film, Japanese animation studio Tokyo Movie Shinsha (now known as TMS Entertainment) produced the animation for the film along with Paramount Animation Japan. A Toonatics Summer Vacation was released on VHS on June 16, 1998. The film was later aired on television as four separate ToonMania episodes.
The film was one of the highest selling videos in the United States, listing on Billboard magazine's 40 "Top Video Sales" for 16 weeks as of October 1998. Points of praise by critics included the film's jokes and celebrity caricatures, while points of criticism included the segmented plot. Themes of the film included parodies of pop culture and summer vacations.

Home media releases and broadcast[]
A Toonatics Summer Vacation was released on VHS on June 16, 1998. Young said that the film was released at that time to take advantage of the summer market. Because retailers had high demand for the film, Paramount shipped to them nearly one million copies, which the Los Angeles Times noted as "a record for direct-to-video programs".
The film later aired on UPN Kids on June 6, 1999, as four Toonatics episodes. Paramount Home Entertainment began to release the Toonatics series on DVD, in volumes, on July 12, 2005. The company released A Toonatics Summer Vacation for the first time on DVD on August 26, 2008 (10 years later). UltraToons, which aired Toonatics, had shown the film a "Biggest Summer Movie Ever".
