Arriving at Hollywood is a 2009 American computer-animated comedy film produced by DreamWorks Animation and Sonia Landry Studios, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film was directed by Sonia Landry and Tim Johnson, and written by Landry and Michael J. Wilson and a story by Landry, and stars the voices of Debra Messing, Josh Peck, Christine Baranski, John Travolta and James Woods. Taking place in year 1954, the film follows a young woman who arrived at Hollywood as she need to reach her goals to be a movie star. In order to do that, she must have a deal with the studio to archive it.
Arriving at Hollywood was released in the United States on October 9, 2009 in 2D, RealD 3D, and IMAX 3D. The film was originally intended for release in 2006, and has had several additional release dates since it was first announced. The film received positive reviews from critics, praising its animation, voice acting, writing, musical score, and character development. It was a box office success, grossing $414 million worldwide against a budget of $160 million, making it the fifth highest-grossing animated film of 2009. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, losing to Up.
A television series based on the film aired on Nickelodeon from June 2010 to May 2015.

The idea for a film about a Hollywood story set in 1950s was proposed by Sonia Landry during the production of Universal Pictures' 1991 animated film An American Tail: Fievel Goes West. Arriving at Hollywood was initially set up in the mid-1990s at Amblin Entertainment's animation division Amblimation (now Amblin Animation) and later Paramount Feature Animation.

Soundtrack[]

The film's soundtrack, featuring the original score by Hans Zimmer, was released on October 6, 2009, by Sony Classical. Originally, John Powell was set to co-compose the score with Zimmer, as had been done with DreamWorks' previous films, The Road to El Dorado, Adyora Focus 2 and Kung Fu Panda, but Powell left out the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Arriving at Hollywood was theatrically released in the United States on October 9, 2009. It was originally set to be released in November 2006, before being delayed to November 2007, to avoid Shrek 3, and then to November 2008, to avoid Bee Movie. It was delayed to March 27, 2009, with Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa taking its November 2008 slot, and was later pushed back to October 9, 2009, switching places with Monsters vs. Aliens.
