Island of Parrots is a 1991 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Paramount Feature Animation and released by Paramount Pictures. It featured the voice talents of Martin Short, Linda Larkin, Chris Rock, Jim Belushi, Tate Donovan, Sandra Bullock, and Jim Cummings. The film follows a story of talking parrots in the island of Parrot Isle and befriends with a human explorer. It was final film to be directed by George Burke before his retirement in 1994 and his death in 2003.
The film was released in the United States on May 17, 1991, and was a critical and commercial success, earning over $287.5 million against its $75 million budget.

Island of Parrots was originally going to be release around Thanksgiving 1991. However, Paramount moved Island of Parrots to May 1991 to avoid competition with Walt Disney Pictures and Walt Disney Feature Animation's Beauty and the Beast, as well as Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment's An American Tail: Fievel Goes West.
Home media[]
Island of Parrots was released on VHS and LaserDisc on October 15, 1991 by Paramount Home Entertainment. The first VHS release includes a sneak peek at Paramount's next animated feature, Little Orphan Annie. The film was released on VHS and DVD on June 15, 2001, as part of the Paramount Animation Collection, and on Game Boy Advance Video in October 2005.
On March 4, 2021, Island of Parrots, along with other Paramount Animation films, was available on Paramount+.
