Paramount Family Entertainment was the family division label of Paramount Pictures. It released numerous theatrical and direct-to-video family-oriented films and television shows.
History[]
The division was founded in 1988 to produce more family-friendly films. The first theatrical film released under the Family Entertainment label was East of the Sun and West of the Moon, released March 1989. The film proved to be a huge hit at the box office, grossing over $75 million at the domestic box office.
More coming soon!
Paramount continued to release family films later in the 2000s as well as the 2010s, but the logo for its Family Entertainment subsidiary was no longer used in the USA.
PFE continued operations in Germany until 2010, after releasing A Magical Quest: The Mysterious Path.
Though made before Paramount created the label, the label also covers the VHS releases of A Dog of Flanders, Charlotte's Web, Bugsy Malone, Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown, Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back), Popeye, The Lightning Storm, D.A.R.Y.L., The Workers and Explorers.
