Susan is a 2014 American computer-animated fantasy detective comedy film based on Games Animation's Susan Telltale franchise, produced by Paramount Animation and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is the 65th feature film produced by the studio. The film is directed by Dallas Sharp and Gary Trousdale from a screenplay by Nicholas Stoller and David Koepp from a story by Erica Rivinoja. The film stars Amanda Leighton as the titular character, with Ryan Reynolds, Kristen Bell, Anna Kendrick, Isla Fisher, Zoe Saldana, Ben Schwartz, Katie Crown, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan-Michael Key and Anthony Anderson.

The film is a reboot of the Susan Telltale film series, and set in a shared Games Animation animated multiverse, the film's story follows a young detective named Susan, where she meets Hudson, Rudy and Tamia for the very first time as they signs up to an detective program where she sets off on a mission in order to train to become a top detective.

Susan premiered on August 30, 2014, at the Regency Village Theatre and was released in theatres on September 12, 2014. It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its animation, voice cast, and score, but criticized the plot and lack of originality.

Development[]

Susan had been in development since late 2006 following work on Twin, Duo, and Double, OtherWorld and The Zone, when Dallas Sharp pitched and wrote a treatment of a film adaptation of Susan Telltale franchise as a computer-animated film and said that he always wanted to do an animated film about Susan Telltale, as he was a big fan of the series.

In June 2, 2008, Paramount Pictures announced that they would reboot the Susan Telltale film series with an animated film, then being directed by Dallas Sharp and written by Nicholas Stoller.
