The Viking Warrior is a 2001 American animated action adventure film produced by Paramount Feature Animation. It is the 43rd feature film produced by the studio. It was directed by Paul Sabella and Julie Young and written by Karey Kirkpatrick and Thomas Lennon. The film stars the voices of Melissa John Hart, David Spade, Justin Timberlake, and Sean Connery. The film set in the land known as Haugar, a fearsome princess learns of a colossal invasion led by a vicious and powerful being. As a result, she heads across several realms to stop him from causing a worldwide destruction.

The Viking Warrior was released on July 20, 2001, to positive reviews from critics, many of whom pointed to the art direction, script, and Jerry Goldsmith's score. It was a modest success at the box office, earning over $280 million worldwide on a budget of $85 million.

Plot[]

In a village of Haugar, a giant storm is approaching and, as a result, the villagers decide to take refuge within their homes to avoid possible death. Then they arrive as they're worried about what could happen, being revealed that giants are the cause of this storm and suddenly, a group of giants arrive and destroy the entire village. Inside the castle, a counselor addresses the royal family about the giants.

The Viking Warrior was originally set to be released on September 14, 2001, but on October 18, 1999, its release date was changed to July 20, 2001.

Marketing[]

The first trailer was released theatrically in late 2000 with Rugrats in Paris: The Movie. A second trailer consisting of new animation debuted in March 2001.

The film was accompanied by a promotional campaign by Burger King.

Home media[]

The Viking Warrior was released on DVD and VHS on October 9, 2001. The DVD release includes audio commentary, behind-the-scenes featurettes, music videos, interactive games, and trailers and television spots. On March 4, 2021, The Viking Warrior, along with other Paramount Animation films, became available on Paramount+.
